Dear Friend,
Inflation continues to wreak havoc on the economy. Gas prices have remained high for months now, and instead of opening up American drilling capabilities, President Biden visited Saudi Arabia to ask them to supply us with more oil.
It is time for this Administration to recognize its failures, abandon Green New Deal Policies, and instead focus on expanding American energy production. The American people, especially those living in rural states like Mississippi, particularly feel the impact of high gas prices.
The Biden Administration continues to advocate advancing radical climate provisions. Not only would these programs do little to bring down prices at the pump, but they will also include higher levels of government spending, the same issue that helped create the current inflation crisis.
Instead of expanding American energy production, President Biden has decided to sell our oil reserves to China — the same reserves that the United States would draw from during times of national emergency. As hurricane season approaches, these reserves could be essential.
In response to the Biden Administration’s move, I supported an amendment to appropriations legislation that would stop the sale of our valuable petroleum reserves to China. Unfortunately, this move was blocked by House Democrats.
I will not stop fighting for American energy independence. We must make America energy independent so the people of our nation can return to their normal lives without emptying their wallets at the pump.
Summer Interns
This summer, I am proud to have a group of dedicated interns working in my D.C. office. Internships are a great way for young people to learn more about Congress and meet the people who work in the United States Capitol.
Joining our team this summer are Mary Parker Williams, Harrison Hays, and Stella Vinson.
I’m grateful to have Mary Parker Williams as an intern in my office this summer. Mark Parker is from Jackson and will be a senior at Mississippi State University where she is majoring in finance and minoring in pre-law. After graduation, Mary Parker plans to attend law school. I’d like to thank Mary Parker for all of her hard work.
Harrison Hays is an intern in our D.C. office this summer and is from Flora. Harrison is majoring in political science and business administration at Ole Miss and plans to earn a master’s degree in public administration. Thanks for all of your hard work, Harrison, and all the best.
Stella Vinson is a nutrition major at Mississippi State and has joined my D.C. office as a summer intern. Stella is from Brandon and plans to enroll in a graduate program for dietetics at the University of Mississippi after she finishes her degree at MSU. I’m grateful for Stella’s hard work and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
