John —

Without support from this community, we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do. So first, we want to say that the team here at the Innocence Project and our clients genuinely appreciate you and all that you do for us. Because of your support, we’ve been able to help innocent people on their journey to freedom and long-awaited justice. However, our work is far from done, and we want to make sure you’re along for the ride.

Our team is reviewing our records, and we want to confirm that we have the correct information on file as we continue our work in this new fiscal year. Here’s what we currently have for you:

Last year, we accomplished so much. Four people were exonerated and one person had their conviction vacated: we passed 10 laws in eight states; and because of the hard work of Innocence Project lawyers and your advocacy and support, Pervis Payne was removed from death row, and Melissa Lucio was given a stay just two days before her execution date for a crime that never occurred.

These are all huge accomplishments in just 12 months — and none of it would have been possible without people like you chipping in when and where they can. But we want to go even bigger in these next 12 months.

We can only continue to fight for the innocent and give people a chance at freedom with your help. Will you help us start our new fiscal year off strong by making a donation right now? [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for your support,

— The Innocence Project Team

P.S. Our data is tied to this exact email address. So if you donated using a different email, don't worry — we've still processed your donation. And thank you for your support!

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in antiracism.
