** How Abortion Is Sundering Amy Coney Barrett’s Hometown

IYD President, Arielle Brandy was quoted in Politico Magazine on July 10th after the disastrous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade was announced by the Supreme Court last month. Read the quote from Arielle below:

β€œIt’s disappointing to see a woman not wanting to stand up for women,” said Arielle Brandy, 32, a mother of two daughters and a board member of the local Planned Parenthood chapter. β€œI understand that her job as a justice is to kind of separate personal feelings from obviously law and legislation, but a lot of the things that she has given opinions on or overruled are not reflective of our city.”

** Hamilton County Democrats to rally at Statehouse for pro-choice rights

Elected officials and candidates running for office representing Hamilton County are encouraging Hoosiers to voice their support for pro-choice rights when the state Legislature convenes for a special session later this month.

More than 75 people turned out in solidarity July 2 during a rally organized by the Hamilton County Democratic Party inside Holy Family Episcopal Church in Fishers that featured candidates running for state and federal offices. The event was designed to create an atmosphere for individuals who are concerned about issues to be addressed during the special session scheduled for July 25, said Dayna Colbert, Hamilton County Democratic Party chair.

β€œWe want to bring people together who also feel that way to have that choice and give them the tools to move forward and carry that message on,” Colbert said.
