We have emailed you time and time again about the Electoral Count Act (ECA) and the need to modernize this outdated law that is rife with ambiguities. Well, there has been a big breakthrough on that front.

For months now, a bipartisan group of senators have been negotiating and working on putting together a deal to update the ECA. Issue One has been in the center of this effort, advocating with our partners for urgent action. We are excited to say that today this group reached an agreement and introduced a bill that will do just that.

This bipartisan effort will help protect future elections, update an arcane election law, and help prevent a constitutional crisis following future presidential elections. It also serves as a reminder that voters decide elections — not rogue partisan actors, not vice presidents, not state legislatures.

While this is a huge step forward, there is more work to be done to get this critical bill across the finish line. And we need your help.
