Some executive actions that don't go far enough

John, President Biden just held a climate press conference in Massachusetts.

It's good to see the Biden administration taking executive actions to protect communities from extreme heat and to expand offshore wind opportunities. They are absolutely necessary and will make real impacts in people’s lives. But today, Biden said that the climate crisis is an emergency, yet didn’t declare a climate emergency. We're so sick of empty words and promises.

Seriously — we are a year and a half into the Biden presidency and all we've seen are some executive actions that don't go far enough and the slow death of climate legislation in Congress. Young people are tired of receiving scraps from our government.

President Biden must immediately declare a climate emergency, and do everything in his executive power to confront the climate crisis. Can you join our call to urge President Biden to use his executive power to save us from climate devastation?

Declaring a climate emergency is a no-brainer. At a time when our rights are being ripped away, wildfires are displacing and killing people all over the world, and faith in government is wavering, young people are asking – what will it take for Democrats to fight for us?

This moment is critical for the Biden Presidency – he can either take action and deliver to millions of people, or will forever be known as the president who condemned my generation to an unlivable world.

The press conference is the first sign young people have seen in a long time that Biden is taking our experiences seriously. But he can’t stop now. This election cycle and our futures depend on it.

The administration must follow through on his promises. Our future is literally depending on it. Add your name to our petition calling on Biden to do everything in his power to address the climate crisis. All eyes are on him.

In solidarity,

Varshini, Sunrise
