John, I'm reaching out personally today to talk about Cori Bush.
Cori is an organizer and activist, and in her first term in Congress, she has made transformative progress representing the people of St. Louis. She's a fierce advocate for racial justice, health care, and reproductive rights — just yesterday she was arrested outside of the Supreme Court for protesting in defense of abortion rights.
I was so proud to have Cori's support in my primary election.
Now, we need to have Cori's back. Cori's facing off against four corporate-backed challengers in less than two weeks in what will be a competitive — and expensive — primary election.
In my race, super PACs spent a record $4.5 million in the final weeks of our campaign — flooding the Pittsburgh airwaves with racist and sexist misinformation. Establishment groups and corporate PACs with ties to the GOP have set their sights on defeating our people-powered movement for bold change and that includes going after Cori.
One of Cori's opponents has already spent over $100,000 on a single TV attack ad, and these attacks will only increase as we get closer to Election Day.
It's going to take a widespread, grassroots effort to grow our progressive movement in Congress, so I have to ask: Will you consider splitting a donation between my campaign and Cori's today?
Like me, Cori believes in running a 100% grassroots campaign powered by everyday people — not special interests. It's because of donations from folks like you that we made history in our primary election and Cori became the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress in 2020.
I'm so excited to join Cori in Washington to make real change for the folks who need it most. Together, we will fight for a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and visionary racial justice legislation to transform our country, but first, we need to help Cori keep her key seat in Congress.
Gratitude and solidarity,
Summer Lee
