MEDIA ADVISORY: Governor and First Lady to address Communities In Schools Summer Institute tomorrow at Stonewall Resort

WHO: Gov. Jim Justice, First Lady Cathy Justice, CIS President and CEO Rey Saldaña.
WHAT: The Communities In Schools Summer Institute is held annually to assist program staff from CIS counties in learning how they can address students’ needs more effectively. The conference, which began on Tuesday and will conclude tomorrow, has had over 200 attendees.
Communities In Schools WV is the First Lady’s not-for-profit education initiative that forges community partnerships and brings resources into schools to help remove barriers to student learning with a goal of keeping all students in school and ultimately graduating. The program currently reaches over 70,000 students from 171 schools in 31 counties.
WHEN: At 10:30 a.m., Mr. Saldaña, who is making his first trip to West Virginia, will give the closing address. Following his address, the Governor and First Lady will give remarks and make an announcement regarding the CIS WV program.
