The House Judiciary committee is holding a hearing on an Assault Weapons Ban right now and the way that gun lobby cronies are trying to stop this lifesaving legislation would be laughable if it wasn’t so deadly.
To make baseless arguments against banning assault weapons is, on its own, irresponsible, but these lawmakers have the gall to say it in front of the gun violence survivors who sat in the room and courageously testified in support of this ban, and in front of the American people who have witnessed countless mass shootings committed with an assault weapon this year alone. In Buffalo, Uvalde, Highland Park, Greenwood…
Banning assault weapons is the answer to this bloodshed. These are weapons designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. And it’s long past time for our lawmakers to take action to protect the American people.

Let me be clear, John, this is common sense legislation that is proven to be effective. It is long past time to pass an assault weapons ban and I’m sick and tired of hearing false claims that it will not save lives.
