John,

America only works if we pass the American idea on to the next generation. Right now, that isn't happening as well as it should.

That's why a few weeks ago, I introduced the Build Civic Bridges Act.

This bipartisan bill will empower communities to assist local civic and community organizations with ongoing efforts to address contentious issues and reduce polarization at the local level. After all, the roots of our democracy lie not in the halls of Congress but in conversations between neighbors who see the world differently and seek to understand one another.

In the past few years, our country has become more divided than ever, but that simply means we ought to double our efforts in working together to build a better America. By partnering with AmeriCorps and the Office of Civic Bridge Building, I'm confident this bill is precisely what our country and our citizens need.

We need the support of our communities if we want this historic legislation to pass in Congress. Will you sign your name to support the Build Civic Bridges Act? Add your name here >> [link removed]
