Hey y'all,
AP News is reporting on a horrifying story coming out of Texas. One Texas doctor described the predicament he faced with a patient who started to miscarry and developed a dangerous infection. (Content warning: Some of this is graphic.)
The fetus still had signs of a heartbeat, so an immediate abortion — the usual standard of care — would have been illegal under Texas law.
“We physically watched her get sicker and sicker and sicker” until the fetal heartbeat stopped the next day, “and then we could intervene,” [Dr. Munoz] said.
The patient developed complications, required surgery, lost multiple liters of blood and had to be put on a breathing machine “all because we were essentially 24 hours behind.’’
Unfortunately, the reality is this simple: Texas Republicans are tormenting and killing Texas women. They are turning pregnancy into a death trap, and the worst part is, they don't think it's going far enough.
This isn’t about political parties, y’all. This is about health and safety. And Texas Republicans are putting their constituents’ lives in serious jeopardy because of their extremist culture wars.
The only way to reverse this is to defeat the Republicans who are perpetuating this dangerous agenda and elect Democrats who will truly fight for Texans.
