Dear ,

Sexual health impacts our relationships, our self-image,, and even the way we grow to view the world. This summer PPMW is kicking off  “Truth Be Told,” a series of livestream discussions where we lean into some of the most important and, at times, challenging discussions about sex and reproductive health. Each of these events features PPMW staff in casual conversation with renowned health professionals and educators. Join us to learn new information and have your questions answered.

Episode 2: Your Kids Saw Porn. Now What?
Featuring Justine Ang Fonte

Porn is everywhere these days and, since caregivers can’t be with their kids 24/7, sooner or later young people are going to discover sexually explicit material.

In this episode of PPMW’s Truth Be Told live stream series, PPMW Director of Organizing and Volunteer Programming Franki McDaniel and Intersectional Health Educator Justine Ang Fonte tackle the ways caregivers can talk with kids about porn; the ways porn shapes our understanding of sex and intimacy; and how kids and adults can be healthy, literate consumers of explicit material.

Justine Ang Fonte is a sexuality educator, producer, and a daughter of Filipinx immigrants. She is the founder and Director of Health & Wellness at The Dalton School, a K-12 independent school in New York City. As a nationally-recognized speaker, Justine consults to both public and private institutions across the United States on inter-sectional health education topics and is a speaker to thousands of students in school communities.

Ep 3: When Sex Isn’t Doing it for You: Dealing with Sexual Dysfunction
Featuring Dr. Heather Quaile

From a young age, many folks internalize the notion that having sex is akin to flipping a switch — one that we should be able turn on at a moment’s notice. For some, however, the reality can be far different with individuals experiencing persistent, recurrent problems with sexual response, desire, orgasm or pain — that distresses themselves or strains relationships with partners — that are known medically as sexual dysfunction.

In this episode of PPMW’s Truth Be Told live stream series, PPMW Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Marie Peters and Advanced Forensic Nurse and certified sex counselor Dr. Heather Quaile dig into the reasons that some cis women/people with vulvas experience sexual dysfunction and talk about some methods, strategies,

Dr. Heather Quaile (She/Her/Hers) is a double board certified, women’s health nurse practitioner and advanced forensic nurse with specialty training in female sexual medicine and vulvoscopy. She is also trained as a sexual assault nurse examiner and a certified sex counselor, providing sexual health education, information and personalized counseling to patients of all ages. Dr. Quaile has been working in all aspects of women’s healthcare for over 21 years caring for women of all ages across the health-illness continuum.
