Dear John,
Last month, we shared in your rage and despair over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. This month, we channel those feelings by calling out the violent rhetoric of Operation Save America, the anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ group taking their national conference to Nashville, Tennessee, from July 23-30.
As we outlined in a previous webinar, Operation Save America has a long history of spreading harmful disinformation and promoting potentially dangerous policies. From boasting about going to D.C. during the white supremacist coup attempt at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 [1] to bragging about open-carrying assault weapons, [2] Operation Save America and its members have repeatedly engaged in downright frightening activities. They also openly support the criminalization of people who have abortions – even in states such as Tennessee where treating abortion like murder could lead to the death penalty. [3]
As we work together to navigate a post-Roe world, we urge you to educate yourselves on dangerous anti-abortion groups like Operation Save America through resources like our webinar. The more we know about those seeking to criminalize abortion, the better prepared we are to fight back. [4]
And to Operation Save America, all we have to say is: #StopProsecutingAbortion.
In safety and solidarity,
