Yesterday the House voted to enshrine the right to same-sex and interracial marriage into law. After the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, it’s more important than ever to codify these fundamental rights so that our freedom isn’t dependent on the makeup of the Supreme Court.
The newly passed bill repeals a 1996 law that defines marriage as between a man and woman. While it passed the House with bipartisan support, it needs to pass in the Senate to become law. It’s still unclear if ten Republican senators will join with Democrats to give this bill the votes it needs.
Your ability to marry who you want and start a family when you choose shouldn’t be left up to extremist politicians. I’ll always stand up for our liberty–thank you for being in this fight with me.
