Two weeks ago, I was honored to receive an invitation to speak with Vice President Kamala Harris and four other state legislators from across the country about how we can protect access to abortion in our states. My visit to the White House made one thing abundantly clear: The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has left the majority of Americans feeling scared, sad, and angry. But John, we are not helpless.
As both a community leader and a public servant, I have fought tirelessly to protect our reproductive rights here in Nebraska. From working to continue funding for Planned Parenthood as the organization chair in the 1990s to filibustering against — and defeating — the draconian trigger law banning abortion introduced in the legislature earlier this year, I have remained an unwaveringly pro-choice voice for Nebraskans. And now, I’m ready to continue my fight for reproductive rights in Congress.
I won’t let the extreme anti-choice minority in Washington continue stripping us of our bodily autonomy, but I need your help: Will you support my campaign so that I can continue championing reproductive rights in Congress?
