In light of the conservative-controlled Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and Justice Clarence Thomas indicating they may come for same-sex marriage next, Democrats took action to ensure the Court cannot rip away LGBTQ individuals’ equal right to marriage.

Yesterday, the U.S. House took a major step in protecting the rights of LGBTQ people by passing the Respect for Marriage Act, a bill to codify same-sex marriage into federal law.

Every single ‘no’ vote was cast by Republicans, including NM-02’s own Yvette Herrell.

All people across this country deserve to marry the person they love, and have that marriage respected and validated. The Respect for Marriage Act not only protects marriage equality for LGBTQ folks, but interracial marriages as well. Yet Herrell voted against it.

This vote further goes to show that far-right extremist Yvette Herrell is living in a different era.

The people of NM-02 deserve a representative who fights for ALL of us, not someone with extremist views trying to take us backward.

Herrell and her hateful agenda are unwanted and out of place in NM-02. Help me replace her in Congress this November by pitching in $10 or whatever you can to flip this toss-up seat blue.

Love is love, and it’s absolutely shameful that in 2022, Yvette Herrell doesn’t believe that and actively votes in favor of discrimination.

We deserve better, and this November, we can achieve that together.
