[TrueCost: Solution to the climate crisis.]([link removed])
#
Hey all you deflated dissenters,
#
Ecological catastrophe is fast approaching — the looming risk of climate armageddon is dawning on more and more people. But knowing what needs to be done and actually doing it are miles apart.
Earlier this year we [put out a call]([link removed])to deflate SUV tires by wedging gravel in the tire valve, leafleting the windshield, and walking away. At the same time, UK-based [Tyre Extinguishers]([link removed])started a visceral campaign of deflating SUV tires across the UK.
But in North America, we struggled to get the action to take off. Mainstream culture clings stubbornly to its fossil-fuel deathtraps, and [no one took]([link removed])the direct action plunge.
Until now.
Tyre Extinguishers this past week [hit]([link removed]) [four]([link removed]) [cities]([link removed])in the [US]([link removed])and one city in [Canada]([link removed]), kicking off the North American expansion.
The beauty of the strategy is its simplicity. Anyone can do it, it's non-violent, it has an outsized effect, and you can do it alone.

SUV-owners, holding fast to their gas-guzzling behemoths, are responsible for some of the least justifiable pollution on Earth. As Andreas Malm writes, “If we cannot even get rid of the most preposterously unnecessary emissions, how are we going to begin moving towards zero?”
It's a small direct action, and we're going to have to do a lot more to get humanity out of the planetary endgame we've blundered into, but action is the antidote to despair.
The Tyre Extinguishers now have ongoing actions in nine different countries, with more on the way, making this a truly global movement made up of autonomous rebels. [Get in touch]([link removed]) with them to start your own autonomous action.
Do it any day you can, but especially on #FuckItAll Fridays! Deflating one SUV's tires may seem small, but the aim of this campaign is to have the sound of deflating tires happening every Friday in cities all over the world — a global #pfffff that grows deafening as the fires rage.

[Climate Catastrophe Demands Action]([link removed])

The looming risk of climate armageddon is dawning on more and more people. And so visceral action to do something about it is picking up some desperately needed steam. [MORE]([link removed])

[AB 161: The Nope/Hope issue]([link removed])
#
Hope rests with adopting a handful of potent metamemes — ideas so fundamental, so profound that a sane sustainable future is unthinkable without them.
But if we can’t manage to hatch a grand new narrative for humankind, we’ll be travelling down the highway to hell — moving inexorably toward a long dark age from which we may never recover.
[Jump on board]([link removed]), comrade. It’s an all-hands-on-deck kind of moment.
