National DSA Labor Survey
|
This year, we have seen incredible energy in the labor movement as workers continue to demand power at work. To continue this important work, it’s imperative that we understand the labor participation of DSA members in order to connect workers in the same industry to each other, build strong militant causes in existing unions, help workers organize new shops, and more. That is why National DSA Labor Committee is asking you to fill out their big 2022 Labor Membership Survey.
If you fill out this survey form, you will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for some amazing union merch and prizes! Winners will be announced once the survey closes.
The survey will run from June 27 through July 22, so don't forget to tell your fellow comrades to fill out the survey for a chance to win!

Mutual Aid Committee Update
|
Between the Mutual Aid Committee and other groups, we’ve been able to distribute 5,192 bottles of water since tracking started in early June. And that’s still not even hitting every encampment!
The need is great, especially with our multiple strings of 100° days and many folks with barely shade to subsist. So if you can volunteer with the Mutual Aid Committee or even our sister orgs including Sac Punks with Lunch and Sacramento Homeless Union that would be great!
Contact the great folks of the Mutual Aid Committee at [email protected]

Interested writing a blog post?
|
Do you feel passionate about a certain leftist topic? How about current events? Are you a good writer? If you answered yes, we would love to host your writing on our Sacramento DSA blog located on our website!
Our last entry is a few years ago, so we are hungry for new leftist content to display.
If interested, please email Chapter Secretary, Jessie, at [email protected].

Reproductive Justice: An Abolitionist Framework for Abortion Access and Beyond >>
|
Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 8:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM CDT / 6:00 PM MDT / 5:00 PM PDT
Join DSA comrades and other organizers for a mass call on Reproductive Justice, an abolitionist framework for thinking about our next steps with the fall of Roe. As Marian Jones, who will be a panelist at the event, writes, "Struggles for affordable housing, the abolition of prisons, anti-imperialism, and the end of environmental racism are all part of a reproductive justice agenda. So are any other intersectional fights for bodily autonomy." You'll be hearing from speakers involved in these fights, and get to strategize next steps with comrades in break-out groups. We'll see you on zoom on Wednesday, July 27th from 8-9:30pm EST.

Protect Abortion Training Session II >>
|
Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022 8:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM CDT / 6:00 PM MDT / 5:00 PM PDT
Our bodies, our lives, our rights, and our democracy are on the line as the ruling class seeks to control our reproductive labor and outlaws abortion. As socialists, we know this is but their first step and we are not the only ones in their sights. We know a mass movement is the only thing that can save us. And we know only we, the people, can build that movement.
This is the second of a two-part training series. The first call was an overview of the legal and political landscape and an introduction to tools for assessing your own community and state: who has power and where does it come from, who is active on this issue both allies and opponents, etc. The second call will be an interactive workshop to help you develop a long-term organizing strategy and campaign tailored to your unique conditions and therefore more likely to succeed.
