In a devastating decision, the Supreme Court has threatened our ability to protect birds, people, and the places we need by curtailing the ability of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to regulate carbon pollution and respond to the climate crisis.
Despite this ruling, Audubon will continue to protect birds today and tomorrow, no matter what happens. We’ve spent more than a century pursuing a bold policy agenda at the local, state, and federal levels—and that’s why even with gridlock in Washington, we have the grassroots experience to fight back. Because of our wide-reaching impact, we're able to influence lawmakers at the state and local levels to make policy decisions that will address the climate crisis and keep the work of protecting birds and people moving forward.
But our best work depends on caring bird lovers like you, so please: Start your dependable monthly gift right away while you’ll help unlock $8,500 in additional support thanks to a generous group of donors.
In the past, agencies like the EPA could take major action to combat climate change. But with the new SCOTUS ruling, the EPA is forced to spend more time on litigation and legal justification and less time on proactively transitioning us to cleaner energy.
For migratory birds like the Prairie Warbler, who are especially affected by ozone pollution, the Supreme Court’s decision could be a matter of life or death. And at a time when we’ve already lost 3 billion birds in the last 50 years, we need bedrock protections in place more than ever.
Now, with the Court’s decision to put our communities, birds, and other wildlife at greater risk, we must come together to do more. We’re counting on 63 bird lovers to join us as monthly donors today while every gift will help unlock $8,500 more to protect birds and their habitats. Will you be one of them?
Sincerely,
National Audubon Society
