Hi folks —

Just over three weeks ago, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — wiping out almost 50 years of legal precedent protecting a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her body and her future.

Already, we’re seeing the impact of this disastrous decision. As of today, abortion is completely banned in at least 10 states — and we know more will follow.

Thankfully, this isn’t the case in Colorado, where the right to choose is the law of the land. When I was Governor, we also expanded access to reproductive health care and contraception.

In this new post- Roe era, many women are traveling hundreds of miles to pro-choice states like Colorado, sometimes in dire emergency situations, just to receive basic health care that was legal nationwide only weeks ago. And if Congress doesn’t act, they could face jail time for traveling across state lines.

That’s unacceptable. We’re co-sponsoring the Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act , legislation that would protect women who travel out-of-state to receive reproductive care and the doctors who treat them. And I’m personally asking for you to raise your voice alongside mine and demand Congress get this critical legislation across the finish line.

So folks, will you sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act ? While we continue fighting to protect abortion rights under federal law, the absolute least we can do is protect the freedom to travel to receive health care without fear of prosecution. Today and every day, we’re committed to fighting against those who want to strip people of their choices, dignity, and power. Thanks for fighting alongside me.
