Last week, Goliad County ratified an invasion declaration for the border crisis. This declaration has my full endorsement. The border is an unmitigated disaster, and it is disheartening to see the effects on our local communities. The Biden administration continues to defy their constitutional obligation to defend our country from invasion. Because of this dereliction of duty, I have repeatedly called for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Since Biden/Mayorkas were sworn in:
- Almost 3 million illegal immigrant ‘apprehensions’;
- 700k+ ‘known gotaways’ (in addition to the undetected gotaways);
- 50+ known terrorists apprehended at the border;
- 80,000+ US fentanyl deaths;
- $32 Million per day in criminal cartel income from human trafficking alone
These record shattering numbers are a direct result of the Biden administration dismantling Trump-era policies that were proven to be effective. It is clear that we must reinstate these policies to secure our border and protect our homeland.
Over the weekend I joined Fox News to discuss the continued Biden Border Crisis. That video can be viewed HERE.

This week, House Democrats jammed through two radical anti-life bills for votes on the House floor. The two bills that were voted on simply advance the radical agenda of the Left. One of the bills went as far as eliminating any state regulation on abortion and requiring abortion on demand nationwide up until the point of birth. I opposed both of these bills.
You can watch me address Congress about this HERE.
The right to life is an inalienable right given by God, not by government. In the near 50 years since Roe v. Wade was decided, scientific advancements have proven that children in the womb are not just “clumps of cells.” However, the Left demands that every single abortion be celebrated as a triumph — without regard for the 60 million lives lost as a result of abortions.
This is a far cry from their supposed original stance of “safe, legal, and rare.”
Additionally, the Oversight and Reform Committee held a hearing this week on the Dobbs decision, where Democrats tried to convince America that this decision would lead to the criminalization of ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages. This is nothing but fear mongering, as there are no state or federal laws that call for women to be prosecuted for receiving an abortion. The Dobbs decision returned the ability to regulate abortion to the people’s elected Representatives, yet Democrats lash out the system claiming that it is undemocratic. The misinformation and fear mongering surrounding this case must stop.
You can watch my remarks at the hearing HERE.

This week I voted against the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023.
This NDAA makes no attempt to protect our brave service men and women from harmful vaccine mandates. These mandates are not only harmful to servicemembers’ careers, but also create a self-inflicted wound to our military's recruitment rate.
Service Men and women are being punished with dismissal due to the vaccine mandate — meanwhile, there has been no accountability or disciplinary action taken against the top brass who much more egregious behavior led to the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. While I recognize (and support) the need for advanced weapons systems, we need people to run the systems, yet devastatingly low recruitment and forced discharges leave us with a weakened security posture — that we continue to fund without reform.
At a time when American power is in retreat due to the Biden administrations own blunders, it is imperative that we not weaken our own military. In Congress, I introduced two bills, and have cosponsored several others to defend Americans from these unconstitutional mandates. Our service members deserve better.
Here are additional problems included in the NDAA package:
- $1 billion in new military aid for Ukraine, which is more than triple the $300 million requested amount;
- New requirements for reports on diversity and inclusion efforts;
- Green New Deal provisions;
- TRICARE Coverage for Abortifacient Contraceptives;
- No prohibitions on teaching CRT in military academies.
I sincerely hope that the Senate rejects this bill and forces renegotiations with the House, where we can improve the bill to protect our service men and women.

Numbers released last week show that inflation has increased by 9.1% in the last year. This has taken a heavy toll on families as they struggle to make ends meet. Bank accounts are dwindling, yet the Biden administration is not backing off the policies that have exacerbated the situation.
Reckless spending and inept leadership have resulted in increased prices on basic goods nationwide. In fact, this is the worst inflation experienced by Americans since Jimmy Carter was President.
In Congress, I have championed legislation and policies that would cut government spending.

Demanding a Hearing on the Border: I recently signed onto a letter to Chairwoman Maloney to demand a hearing on the Border. As members of the Oversight and Reform Committee, it is our duty to investigate government shortcomings, and in this case, willful negligence.
-
Good to have Sheriff Boyd of Goliad, TX in DC last week to encourage Texas counties to declare an invasion to protect and secure our southern border.
