Ilhan was just arrested outside the Supreme Court while protesting the radical conservative majority’s horrific decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Ilhan spoke out alongside the Democratic Women’s Caucus, leaders from CPD Action affiliate organizations, and dozens of abortion rights activists today because we cannot go back to a time when old, ultra-conservative politicians decided what we do with our bodies. Our right to privacy and our right to bodily autonomy is at stake.

Ilhan is a fierce advocate for abortion rights in Congress and just helped pass legislation to protect the right to an abortion and the right to travel for abortion care without facing punishment from state governments.

But with a far-right Supreme Court and a Senate compromised by the filibuster, she knows fighting to protect abortion rights must go further than that. That is why she is willing and ready to put her safety and her legal record on the line to protest. She is a proud member of the People’s House, and the people’s voices must be heard while the will of most of the country is ignored in favor of a far-right, extreme religious minority.

History will not look on us kindly if we sit idly by in this moment. We must speak up, take action, and use the power we have to protect the fundamental right to make our own healthcare decisions. We cannot allow the Supreme Court to take away our freedoms and permit the criminalization of patients and doctors without a fight.
