Right now, huge swaths of America are in the throes of a record-breaking heat wave, including my district in the eastern part of Colorado. (The U.K. and much of Europe are also seeing unprecedented, deadly heat.)

It should be undeniable that the effects of unmitigated pollution and the unrelenting release of carbon into our atmosphere for decades is changing the habitability of our climate. Every year, high temperature records are broken; wildfires rage out of control with greater intensity, duration, and range; and extreme weather events are occurring with startling frequency.

My opponent, Rep. Ken Buck, is a climate change denier and a fossil fuel-industry lackey: Buck has taken over $464,000 in campaign cash from Big Oil and Natural Gas producers.

Buck would rather see his constituents quite literally burn than support green energy technologies and other clean energy solutions that create jobs, boost the economy, and fight the devastating effects of climate change.

I get no joy from sending these emails. People in my district and across the world are suffering and dying from the extreme heat and unsafe weather we are experiencing. But if we shy away from waging this fight politically, nothing will ever change.

I need your help to prosecute Ken Buck's deadly refusal to invest in our clean energy future and beat him at the ballot so I can work in Congress to finally address climate change.
