In their op-ed “ In Defense of Pharmacy Benefit Managers” (July 12), Joe Grogan and Casey Mulligan claim the job of PBMs “is to keep costs down and manage patient care.” Here, they inadvertently reveal the harm that these middlemen create.
The fundamental flaw in the U.S. healthcare system is that third parties are managing patient care. Patients should be empowered to manage their own care, not rely on third-party payers and PBM middlemen.
