John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:

  • Should nonprofits’ endowments be taxed?
In his book A Brief History of Equality, French economist Thomas Piketty suggests taxing the endowments of nonprofit organizations “to avoid an excessive concentration of power within a small number of entities and to enable less wealthy entities to develop.” CRC’s Michael Hartmann examines the implications of Piketty’s ideas in the U.S. here.
  • How woke are Ben & Jerry?
Ben & Jerry of ice cream fame are going to court to make sure their product is not sold in the West Bank in keeping with, they say, their ideological beliefs. But have the businessmen—both Jewish themselves—been bullied into their position by the leftist monolith pushing the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) philosophy? CRC’s Sarah Lee investigates here.
  • What’s the price of two million more votes?
Every election, massive liberal foundations pour tens of millions of dollars into tax-exempt groups to turn out the Democratic vote. They call it “philanthropy.” Mind the Gap, a little-known super PAC based in Palo Alto, California, is a key player in this campaign. CRC’s Parker Thayer and Hayden Ludwig expose this secretive group here.

New Issue

Capital Research, May/June 2022

In this issue, George Soros is remaking the U.S. justice system to create "Sorostan," a land where criminals are enabled and law-abiding citizens are denied the rule of law. Amalgamated Bank, Big Labor's bank of choice, finances left-wing initiatives. The National Lawyers Guild continues its historical practice of providing legal services to the far Left, most recently the Antifa and Black Lives Matter movements. Finally, nonprofits foundations are methodically destroying public education.

InfluenceWatch Podcast 227

Why Does Labor Care About Abortion?

In this episode: If any liberal organization would choose not to comment on the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, one might expect organized labor to abstain. But that would have been wrong.

In keeping with a longstanding practice of "social justice unionism," Big Labor condemned the Dobbs ruling. This places Big Labor in an odd alliance with "woke" corporations that are vowing to offer access to abortions as employment benefits.

Joining Michael Watson to discuss organized labor's relationship with woke capitalism and social justice unionism is James Sherk, director of the Center for American Freedom at the America First Policy Institute.
