Republicans continue to mount attacks using the buzzword inflation. It is important to counter false narratives with factual information. Inflation is the result of globalization. Globalization touches every corner of our world. It is not a Democrat-caused issue nor is it a problem that only Republicans can solve.
Inflation is principally driven by these factors:
- Supply and Demand. Post-pandemic consumer demand for gas and associated goods (while supplies are limited) will result in higher prices.
- Global Supply Disruptions. COVID-19 lockdowns crippled China’s factories and the global supply chain. China delivered two-thirds of global exports before the pandemic.
- Russia & Ukraine. Both Russia and Ukraine are global distributors of energy and other commodities; any disruptions in these countries (i.e., a war) will have negative ripple effects around the world.
- Speculation. Speculation drives inflation as it is an indication of confidence, or a lack there of, in our economy.
- Corporate Greed and Profiteering. While Democrats institute measures to rein in price-gouging, business and people in the top 1 percent of the income tier for their age or firm size continue to enjoy Trump-era tax breaks and government benefits.
You will hear rhetoric claiming that providing stimulus checks to working people and families largely caused inflation. This is false. We do not have to keep people poor in order to avoid inflation. We have the capacity to be prosperous in this country. It is unacceptable that the average person can barely afford to keep $400 in their savings account. For me, this signals a broken economic system.
And you need to know the facts!
I’m representing working individuals and families in West Virginia. The incumbent, Carol Miller, has other priorities and they do not include YOU! With your support and your vote, I will fight for all of us!
