Last week, the House of Representatives passed legislation securing abortion access nationwide and affirming the right to cross state lines for abortion care (guess how many Republicans voted for that one. (It was 3)).

But now, the bills are expected to FAIL in the Senate because of Republican obstruction and the archaic Senate filibuster rules. All this from the party that claims to want LESS government interference — except when it comes to what happens in pregnant people’s bodies and in our bedrooms.

Meanwhile, Democratic senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) are standing in the way of abolishing the filibuster to defend abortion access.

Anti-abortion legislators want to take us back to a time when women were second-class citizens, and they’re succeeding.

Look, the fact that we’re having to fight this hard for the right to bodily autonomy — let alone ensure that people are able to travel between states — is absolutely dystopian. Abortion bans are about controlling our lives, futures, and economic power.
