Hi there friend,

My name is Greg Hodge but around Oakland, I am known simply as Baba Greg.

I am running for mayor to serve the City I love so dearly - its people, its distinct neighborhood life and the spirit that makes us who we are. I believe in Oakland’s ability to rise and our leadership needs to show that.

In June our community raised over $100,000 allowing our grassroots campaign to be viable. If everyone who donated last month were on a flight, we would fill a 747 plane to maximum capacity! Our community of supporters are from Oakland and beyond - including Hawaii, Alabama, Georgia and Illinois! Despite where we come from, we all share a common destination, a more inclusive, equitable, and thriving Oakland. Our crew is ready for takeoff and we need you onboard with us. Please make a donation today to make our vision for a new Oakland possible.

With your trust, I will steer us to the following futures:

Equitable Economic and Cultural Opportunity: We are a city rich in intellectual and cultural assets, so let’s make access to a meaningful job or business opportunity a reality for all who are prepared to take it on.

Thriving Neighborhood Schools: Let’s find sustainable solutions to the challenges of creating culturally competent, safe and enriched learning environments at every neighborhood school. Our children deserve it!

Community Safety: Crafting a compassion-led, comprehensive approach to community safety that includes enhancing the mental health, social, and economic safety nets in partnership with the county government.

Housing and Shelter: Shaping a comprehensive policy for providing our unhoused fellow neighbors in Oakland — our city’s most vulnerable residents — with decent housing fit for the shelter of human beings.

Arts, Culture and Healing - The Town has always had a vibrant arts community as a national hub for artivism (art+activism). How can we centralize art at the center of our communal healing process, and use art as a lens to engage these other pertinent issues?

The best tool we’ve got is each other - can you commit to talking to five people this week about these issues important to our movement and my candidacy? If you can, please continue to donate, and follow and share our posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Are you ready to pack your bags and hop aboard? We are ready to take off!

With love and light,
Baba Greg
