[1]NNU - Medicare for All!

When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade, they stripped
away an essential part of health care, risking the wellbeing and safety of
women and pregnant people across the country.

The U.S. House voted last week to create a statutory right to abortion by
passing the Women's Health Protection Act.

We are urging the U.S. Senate to take a stand for reproductive health
justice and pass the WHPA now — suspending the filibuster if necessary to
allow for a vote on this crucial legislation.

[ [link removed] ]If you agree that the Senate must stand up for reproductive justice,
will you please call your senators and urge them to suspend the
filibuster and vote for the Women’s Health Protection Act?

Sample script:

Hi, my name is _______, and I am a constituent in PA.

With the undemocratic decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v.
Wade, we need our elected leaders to pass the Women’s Health Protection
Act NOW. I am urging the senator to vote YES on the Women’s Health
Protection Act. I also urge them to vote YES to suspend the filibuster if
necessary to pass this crucial legislation. This is important to me
because _____.

Thank you and have a good day.

We know that under Medicare for All, the cost of abortion care would be
covered. Medicare for All legislation in the House and Senate as written
would prohibit the Hyde Amendment, which currently restricts federal funds
from being spent on abortion, from applying to Medicare for All funds.
Passing Medicare for All would allow abortion to be included as part of
guaranteed, comprehensive health care for all.

But even if we were to pass Medicare for All, the coverage of abortion
care may not matter in states where it is illegal unless clear federal
statutory protections for abortion care are also passed.

The Women’s Health Protection Act would protect the right to an abortion
at the federal level, establishing a right for health professionals to
provide most abortion care without any medically unnecessary restrictions
or limitations and a right of patients to receive that care.

The WHPA passed in the House last week — now is the Senate’s time to act
even if that means suspending the filibuster to ensure it can pass.

us in calling your senators today and urge them to suspend the filibuster
and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.

And as we fight to pass the WHPA, we will continue the work to realize our
vision for a just, equitable future — one where abortion care is not only
legal, but the cost is covered and guaranteed under Medicare for All.

Thank you,
