Hi John,
Today, we kick off a day-long Better Sharing, Brighter Future campaign. And we’re asking you to make a donation to Creative Commons.Â
If you didn’t already know, Creative Commons is the nonprofit organization behind the CC licenses and public domain tools. These licenses are an alternative to traditional copyright, providing a free, simple, and standardized way to share, use, and build on others’ work.Â
We’ve come a long way since we released the first CC license in 2002. We’ve launched programs in Open Education, Open Culture, Open Climate, and Open Journalism. We’ve also partnered with Public Knowledge, Internet Archive, and Wikimedia Foundation to drive a movement to Build a Better Internet, convening diverse voices to drive policy change that ensures the internet remains a public good.
As we look toward the next 20 years, we see these ongoing efforts to open up knowledge as key to addressing the world’s most pressing challenges: from the Climate Crisis to educational inequities to barriers stifling creativity to “fake news” and financial challenges facing journalists around the world.
That’s why we need you, John. We’ve already raised $13,320. Would you be willing to make a $50 donation to Creative Commons to bring us closer to our $25,000 goal?Â
Any amount, small or large, makes a difference. Let’s work together to ensure Better Sharing for a Brighter Future.
