We are in the midst of Local Officer elections for our chapter and have some important updates and changes to share with you:

Several candidates for Steering Committee At-Large have chosen to withdraw their candidacy for a variety of reasons. There now remains five At-Large Steering Committee candidates who are running for six At-Large positions.? Thus, the Nominations Committee has chosen to re-open the filing period for At-Large Steering Committee candidates, which will be open from Sunday, December 8th to Thursday, December 12th at 11:59PM.??

You can submit your candidacy for the At-Large Steering Committee position here [If you have already submitted your candidacy, you do not need to resubmit]. Please consider submitting your candidacy for this important role, as this new Steering Committee will help lead the chapter through 2020. We need your help to run!

Due to the filing period being re-opened for the At-Large Steering Committee position, the Nominations Committee has chosen to delay the voting period.? The new voting period will now be from Saturday, December 14th to Saturday, December 21st at 11:59PM. You can review the revised election timeline below or on the DSA-LA website page.

Please note that the Candidates Forum will continue as scheduled for this afternoon, Sunday December 8th from 3:30 - 5:30PM at First Unitarian Church of LA. We hope you join us -- the forum will be livestreamed for those unable to attend.

ELECTIONS TIMELINE

• Friday, November 29th - Candidate filing period opens. You can submit your candidacy for a position on the DSA-LA Steering Committee or Branch Coordinator by filling out the form here.
• Wednesday, December 4th at 11:59PM - Candidate filing period closes.
• Thursday, December 5th - Final candidate list and statements released to membership.
• Friday, December 6th at 11:59PM - Deadline for extended candidate filing period for the position of Treasurer.
• Sunday, December 8th - Candidates Forum from 3:30 - 5:30PM at First Unitarian Church of LA.?
• Re-open filing period for the position of Steering Committee At-Large.
• Thursday, December 12th at 11:59PM - Filing period for the position of Steering Committee At-Large closes.
• Saturday, December 14th - Voting period opens. Ballots go out via email to all members in good standing.
• Saturday, December 21st at 11:59PM - Voting period closes.

Nithya Raman for CD-4 Endorsement Proposal

Our Electoral Politics Committee has submitted a proposal for the chapter to endorse Nithya Raman for Los Angeles CD-4.? You can see the proposal here.

Directly following the Candidate Forum, there will be the Member Debate on the Nithya Endorsement proposal TODAY from 6:00 - 7:00PM at First Unitarian Church of LA. Please RSVP here. You can submit statements for or against endorsing Nithya, as well as suggest amendments to the proposal, on the endorsement process page here.?

The voting period for this endorsement will open from today, Sunday, December 8th to Sunday December 15th at 11:59PM. Ballots will be emailed to all members in good standing.??

Office Space Proposal

Our membership is also considering a proposal for DSA-LA to pursue renting an office space.? You can read the proposal here. You can submit statements for or against the proposal, as well as suggest amendments to the proposal, here.?

The voting period for this proposal will open from today, Sunday December 8th to Sunday December 15th at 11:59PM. Ballots will be emailed to all members in good standing.
