News from Representative Allred

Dear John,

After the Supreme Court’s disastrous and dangerous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and effectively eliminate the right to choose for millions across the country, hearing that the Court may consider repealing the right to contraception and marriage equality is disheartening and angering.

That’s why the House is taking action this week to protect both of these fundamental rights.

The Right to Contraception Act would guarantee the right to obtain and use birth control, including oral contraception, emergency contraception, and IUDs.

The Respect for Marriage Act would codify marriage equality into law and provide additional legal protections for same sex marriages.

I am a civil rights lawyer by training, so I know that this is about basic civil rights – it’s about equality

We cannot stand by while extremists work to take away the rights of millions of Americans across the country. We must keep fighting back against this corrosive backsliding of civil rights, and I look forward to voting for these bills this week.

Sincerely,
