GOP political operatives have consistently shown their willingness to deceive the American people to get ahead. But this double-dealing flies in the face of the very basic commitment to truth expected of those chosen to sit on the highest court in the land.

During their confirmation hearings, at least two Justices misled Senators about their views on Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

The majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson makes several sweeping statements: The Republican Majority asserts that Roe was "egregiously wrong from the start" and that "Roe and Casey represent an error that cannot be allowed to stand." But as nominees during their confirmation hearings, Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch did not express these sentiments.
In fact, they took the OPPOSITE position:
- Justice Gorsuch (2017): “I would tell you that Roe v. Wade, decided in 1973, is a precedent of the United States Supreme Court. It has been reaffirmed."
- Justice Kavanaugh (2018): "It is settled as a precedent of the Supreme Court, entitled the respect under principles of stare decisis."
