The flag half mast is all too familiar.

Last week it was two naval bases, last month it was a school in California, before that it was Odessa and El Paso. It’s obvious that gun violence is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and I’m simply tired of the GOP stonewalling progress on common-sense fixes.

I’m unapologetic about this: Weapons of war do not belong on the streets of America. Full stop.

Now, here’s what we will do in Congress to make this a reality:

• Make sure background checks are universal and thorough


• Close the loophole on private gun sales


• And restrict the sale of high-capacity magazines

Gun violence has touched the lives of far too many Americans. We lose 17,000 children a year to gun violence, but the NRA and their GOP enablers continue to block common-sense reforms that will save lives.

With the right leaders in the House, Senate, and White House, we can solve this issue. I’m fighting to make this happen.
