** EVENT: A Conversation with Senator Tammy Baldwin
------------------------------------------------------------
ANNOUNCING: A Conversation with Senator Tammy Baldwin Join CJSA, GLASS, and LGBT CSA on July 28th at 6 pm in S-115 for a Conversation with U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (WI). Senator Baldwin was elected to the Senate in 2012. She made history as Wisconsin's first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate and the first openly gay member elected to the U.S. Senate. After joining the Senate, Senator Baldwin got to work and has worked tirelessly across the aisle to defend working families in Wisconsin and to expand health care access to people with pre-existing conditions. We look forward to learning about Senator Baldwin's experience in the Senate on July 28th. Due to security constraints, only Hill staff and interns will be able to join us for this event.

** NEW: 6th Annual Senate Diversity Initiative Survey Results
------------------------------------------------------------
* Not only is this the highest percentage of staff identifying as people of color, but we also have more people of color working in the Senate since the survey was first created in 2017.
+ The same is true for each category. More staff identified as African American than ever before; more identified as AAPI, Middle East/North African, Latino, native American, and LGBTQ.
* 14% of staff identify as LGBTQ, an increase over 2020 and 2019.
* This year, 40% of staff identify as nonwhite. In 2021, that number was 38%. That’s a 2% increase.
* 35 Senate Democratic Offices reported an increase in the number of staff who identify as nonwhite.
* More chiefs of staff and communications directors of color than any other time in the survey. Ten Democratic offices have chiefs of staff who are people of color. (2 African-American, 2 AAPI, 1 Native American/Hawaiian native, 5 Latino). That’s the most we’ve had.
* This year, Latinos have their highest percentage than any other time in the survey (14%).
