John,

Yesterday, I marched in the center of a one-way city street to demand a Green New Deal. As I risked the possibility of arrest, I knew that thousands of young people across the country were doing the same: sitting in at congressional offices, occupying corporate headquarters, packing statehouses, and more. Those actions were led by middle and high schoolers.

Apply now to attend Sunrise’s first organizing training for middle and high school students, preparing for mass youth mobilization leading up to Earth Day 2020.

I’m sixteen years old, and I’m scared for my future. Just last week, the U.N. released a new report stating that we must take “drastic action” right now if we are to save our planet. I cannot stand idly by as politicians in Washington to continue to take millions of dollars from fossil fuel billionaires and ignore the crisis at hand, sacrificing my future in the process. My generation desperately needs a Green New Deal, and we’re ready to fight for it.

That’s why in January, we’ll be bringing students from across the country together to learn critical organizing skills and prepare for mass mobilization. We’ll come together as #GenGND to build community and capacity. We’ll leave ready to work together to take on the oil and gas lobby and corrupt politicians -- ready to engage in the fight of our lifetimes, one that together, we can win.

Join us to attend “Sunrise School,” because we can’t sit passively at our desks when our futures are at risk.

If you’re not a middle or high schooler, share this with someone who is, with your hubs, or within your community.

I am terrified by the timeline ahead of us. Our situation seems more dire with each passing day. But we’re going to organize, vote, and strike to achieve the solutions we know we need. As the 2020 election approaches, we are entering the most critical months that we will ever see as a movement and as a species. This is our last chance. We’re ready to fight, no matter what the cost, because our futures are on the line. Will you?

See you there,

Lily

P.S. Can you chip in to help support the work of middle and high schoolers in Sunrise across the country?
