Friend, we did it!

SB 54, the California Recycling and Plastic Pollution Reduction Act, was just signed into law by Governor Newsom!

This historic new law will begin the critical process of phasing out single-use plastic in California and instead shift to recyclable or compostable materials.

We couldn’t be more excited about this victory, truly.

We couldn’t have done this without the steadfast support of the bill’s author, State Senator Ben Allen, and all the lawmakers who voted for it. Help us thank these leaders for their commitment to climate activism by signing our card today!

After decades of work to tackle the plastics pollution crisis, this bill is a monumental and historic step forward. SB 54 is now the most significant bill addressing plastic pollution policy ever passed in California!

And not only that, with this new law, California becomes the first state in the country to directly confront the plastics crisis. Once again, we are cementing our position as climate leaders for the rest of the country – and the world.

As we move forward in advocating for our other climate priorities, it’s important that our lawmakers hear from us not only when they vote against our interests but also when they stand up and courageously do the right thing.

That’s why we’re gathering grassroots signatures to acknowledge Senator Ben Allen and all the lawmakers who supported our fight to reduce plastic waste. Please take a moment to sign our card now:

Our hope is that all of Senator Allen’s peers will recognize the passion and excitement of this community and follow his path of climate leadership.

Thank you for being a dedicated member of our environmental activist team.

Onward!
