Christopher Bobo of Casper broke his own state record for longnose sucker when he landed a fish that weighed 2 pounds, 11.3 ounces from the North Platte River in early May. Bobo first broke the record in 2021. Bobo?s new record-fish was 19.5 inches long and had a girth of 9.25 inches. Learn some new fishing tips and hear from Bobo himself!

Building the next generation of hunters
The Wyoming Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) allows kids to showcase safety skills and? marksmanship for rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and archery. Youth participants must undergo an orienteering challenge, a wildlife identification quiz and a hunter responsibility exam. There are multiple YHEC events hosted throughout the state. The next YHEC is in Worland on Sept. 24.

Range: Swift foxes are found in the western grasslands of North America.
Size: The swift fox is a small fox that is about the size of a domestic cat.
Habitat: Swift foxes build their dens in sandy soil on open grasslands or sagebrush and in agricultural fields. They are primarily nocturnal, spending their days in their den and hunting at night.
Food: The swift fox is an omnivore, meaning it eats both plants and meat. Its diet includes small mammals like prairie dogs, ground squirrels and mice, carrion (roadkill or other scavenged meat), insects and lizards as well as grasses and fruits.
Did you know? The swift fox was once a severely endangered species due to predator control programs in the 1930s, but populations are now stable and healthy. They are even expanding their range across Wyoming!?
