Voting Barriers are Real!

Anyone who regularly reads our updates knows that we’re doing all that we can to prepare for the upcoming midterm elections and make sure that we get IDs into the hands of as many people as possible.

For the 21 Million eligible voters in our country without an ID, voting presents a challenge. Unfortunately, this is not the only barrier that our clients have to deal with. Everything from lack of transportation to unreliable child care can keep voters from the polls.

One of the forgotten barriers to voting is incarceration. Over 470,000 eligible voters serving misdemeanor sentences or awaiting trial in county jails across the country are at risk of being disenfranchised. We want to make sure that they know that they can Vote by Mail in Jail.

That’s why we are working with jails across the country to provide education, ballots, support, and training.

Support Spread The Vote

We’re also keeping in touch with incarcerated citizens through our Holiday Heart program. In fact, our volunteers are on track to send 1,255 cards out this fall.

We’d love to send you a Vote by Mail in Jail sticker. Donate today and we’ll put one in the mail for you.
