It's been three weeks since the harmful Dobbs decision reversing Roe v. Wade. Friday, I spoke on the House floor and helped pass two important pieces of legislation in our fight to protect and restore abortion rights.

First, we passed the Women's Health Protection Act to restore the right to abortion in all 50 states and return the decision about whether and when to have a child to the patient and their doctor. We also passed the Ensuring Women's Right to Reproductive Freedom Act to protect anyone who now must travel across state lines to get a legal abortion.

Unfortunately, similar legislation has failed in the Senate because of the archaic filibuster. For us to truly protect rights, we must maintain our majority in the House and elect at least two more Senators who are willing to get rid of the filibuster.

But today, women are already being denied abortions in eleven states, and more bans are likely to begin any day. I won't stop fighting for our rights, and I will continue to urge the Biden Administration to take action.
