With the upcoming Senate recess in August, if we don’t codify Roe now, we’ll be leaving millions of women in the dark for months until the next legislative session begins.  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Adam Schiff for Congress

John, we have the power to do something about the GOP attack on our rights. And we need to use it.

If you are indignant about the reactionary agenda of the Supreme Court, I am too. Because I know that Congress has the power to codify Roe and reinstate the reproductive rights of millions of women, but hasn’t done so yet. And I’m horrified to see stories coming out about how, in post-Roe America, women and children are being put into dangerous and awful situations just to receive basic healthcare.

If it were up to me, I would have passed legislation immediately to codify abortion access into federal law. In fact, I voted to codify Roe last week. Again.

But right now, a handful of Senators are using the arcane filibuster to frustrate progress and stop pro-choice Senators from passing life-saving legislation for the people.

And with the upcoming Senate recess in August, I know that if we don’t codify Roe now, we could be leaving millions of women at risk for months until the next legislative session begins.

This is a life-or-death situation, John, and I can’t sit back and let the Senate fail to do what the overwhelming majority of Americans want just because of the filibuster, a procedural anachronism that doesn’t even appear in the Constitution.

That’s why I’m speaking up now and asking for you to join me: Sign on today to demand the Senate change the filibuster rules and use our Democratic majority to pass legislation that guarantees a woman’s right to choose.
