Maryland voters will go to the polls tomorrow to make their voices heard in this critical primary election. Thank you for giving me a moment of your time to discuss the stakes in this race and tell you why I am more motivated than ever for the road ahead. But first, I have to ask: Will you make a grassroots contribution to my campaign before tomorrow’s primary? Your support helps power our GOTV efforts before the polls close tomorrow.
I have always been called to public service because of my passion for bringing people together, blazing new trails, and effecting meaningful change that can improve our lives. I was motivated to run for Congress when our current representative, Andy Harris, voted against certifying the results of the free and fair 2020 election. I knew it was my patriotic duty to join this race and hold him accountable. Last week, the January 6th Select Committee revealed that Harris plotted with Trump to overturn the election and plan a coup against our government and we were all reminded of what we already knew: Andy Harris needs to go.
Harris’ dangerous and extreme actions leading up to and on January 6th are just one example of his failure to represent the First District. He is vocally supportive of a nationwide abortion ban, and he is owned by the NRA and gun lobby, actively blocking any legislation that attempts to address the ongoing gun violence crisis in America.
But his out-of-touch views on these important issues are not the only reason to toss him out of office. Andy Harris is also an ineffective representative of our region. He has failed to secure resources and funding to support our infrastructure and protect our coastline, and has turned his back on our small businesses. Again and again, he has betrayed us, let us down, and failed to show up.
The way we campaign is the way we will govern and you know I will always work hard for you, show up, listen, and deliver. We are running a unity campaign that rises above partisan rhetoric to bring people of all ideologies together to solve the economic, environmental, and health care challenges our communities face. So much is on the line in this election, and I will be right there with you, fiercely advocating every day to make sure that we build a better, stronger, and more just America for all.
