John,
Earlier this month, 13-year-old Rain Johnson was unlawfully detained for using a megaphone at an abortion rights protest in Lakeland.
With their mother’s permission, I posted the video of their arrest on Twitter, because I needed everyone to see what Ron DeSantis’ Florida really looks like.
Then, I cleared my schedule to join Rain at a Freedom to Choose rally in Lakeland — to make it clear that I stand with young people like Rain in the fight for a better, freer future.
Rain’s unlawful arrest for peacefully protesting and standing up for the right to choose is yet another example of life under Ron DeSantis’ authoritarianism — and why we need to defeat him this November.
Florida doesn’t have to be like this, and on November 8th, we have the chance to change it. If you’re with me, click here to donate $20 — or anything you can — to support my campaign, join my fight for reproductive rights, and help us take back our freedoms.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation to Nikki Fried and Ron Be Gone will go through immediately:
No one should be arrested for protesting for their own freedom. No one should have their freedoms taken away by a power-hungry authoritarian like Ron DeSantis.
And together, we can put a stop to it.
I was proud to stand up there with Rain and continue our fight for freedom. And I’m proud to have this team standing with me.
In solidarity,
Nikki
