John,
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is supposed to be our first line of defense against environmental threats, both to the health of our planet and to ourselves. But a new analysis by The Guardian has found that the EPA’s limited regulatory scope is allowing dangerous “forever chemicals” tied to cancer to go undetected in our water.
According to the analysis, the type of water testing used by the EPA is significantly undercounting the levels of PFAS pollutants in our water. More sensitive tests in the analysis found concentrations of PFAS that were 24 times greater than the EPA’s test.
PFAS are “forever chemicals” used to make products that repel water, stains, or heat. They have been shown to be extremely toxic, even at low levels, and have been found to be linked to a number of serious health problems like cancer, birth defects, and more.
The tight leash on the EPA’s ability to regulate pollutants in our water endangers millions of lives to these toxic chemicals. That’s why our SEEC Members in Congress are working every day to strengthen the regulatory apparatus. Can you support their re-election efforts? [[link removed]]

PFAS pollution has become so pervasive that solving the issue is going to require every tool we can throw at the problem. That’s why SEEC Member Debbie Dingell has introduced not one, not two, but four separate bills addressing the large scope of the PFAS threat.
We need action in Congress to step up where the EPA is unable to. That’s why it’s critical we support our SEEC Members fighting to protect our health and our environment. Can you make a contribution today to help re-elect them? [[link removed]]
