1) The Biden Inflation Tax? $2,400 A Year Per Worker
We never for an eye blink believed the Biden claim that if he were president “nobody making under four hundred thousand bucks will have their taxes raised. Period.” Anyone who believed that was a sucker.
The just-updated chart below from Andy Puzder, former CEO of CKE Restaurants, has tracked the monthly numbers for the past 16 months. Over the past year, inflation has outpaced wages and salaries by roughly four percentage points. With the average worker wage and salary at roughly $60,000 a year, this means a $2,400 per worker Biden inflation tax.
Heritage Foundation economist E.J. Antoni thinks the inflation tax is above $3,000 a year. What is for sure is that worker paychecks are shrinking, Joe.
In an act of supreme economic (and environmental) stupidity the City Council in the nation’s capital has passed several laws that will outlaw the use of fossil fuels for heating, cooking, and city-owned vehicles. E&E News reports that D.C.’s law mimics a similar law recently passed in New York City and about a dozen left-leaning western cities.
Mary Cheh, the sponsor of both bills, called the new law a “blueprint” for dealing with climate change - “the single most important environmental issue of our time.”
Reality check: this law is a “blueprint” all right: for higher utility bills and a WORSE environment. Over the past six years, the use of clean-burning natural gas by power companies is a major factor behind America’s REDUCTION in carbon emissions and other pollution.
So the politicians in a city with high murder rates, one of the highest overall crime rates (one in 17 residents is a victim of a violent or property crime, according to neighborhoodscout.com), abysmal public schools, and a burgeoning homelessness problem thinks they are going to change the temperature of the planet.
Abolishing fossil fuels puts cities and towns at high risk of periodic brownouts and blackouts (think California), but to put a smiley face on this initiative, we can’t think of any city in America where a loss of electric power could do less damage than Washington.
3) Why Is The Media Falsely Scaring People On The Latest Covid Wave?
The leaders of the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center said severe COVID illness is now non-existent at their hospital, in a town hall meeting last week that has received remarkably little media attention and deserves a lot more.
Brad Spellberg, MD, Chief Medical Officer of LAC+USC Medical Center, said:
The numbers at LAC COVID-positive tests have continued to go up. But this isn't because we're seeing a ton of people with symptomatic disease getting admitted. We're seeing a lot of people with mild disease in urgent care or ED who go home and do not get admitted. Of those who are admitted, they're 90% of the time not admitted due to COVID. Only 10% of our COVID positive admissions are admitted due to COVID. Virtually none of them go to the ICU.... It is just not the same pandemic as it was, despite all the media hype to the contrary. A lot of people have bad colds, is what we're seeing.
Paul Holtom, MD, Epidemiologist and Infection Disease Division Service Chief at LAC+USC, added:
Certainly if the experience of our hospital is reflective of across the county, which I believe it is, we're just seeing nobody with severe COVID disease. We have no one in the hospital who had pulmonary disease due to COVID. We have 24 people who have tested positive for COVID, but nobody who had COVID-19 disease, as we would see in the past.
Dr. Barbara Ferrer is expected today, based on numbers, to probably announce that LA county will go into a mask mandate situation... But certainly there is no reason from a hospitalization due to COVID perspective, to be worried at this point.
We can only hope other jurisdictions at least check with their hospitals before putting COVID mandates (which are ineffective, anyway) back in place.

4) Evidence Mounts That COVID Likely Came From Chinese Lab
Speaking of Covid, Dr. Deborah Birx, a Fauci ally who was the White House’s Corona Virus Response Coordinator, now concedes that the virus “came out of the box ready to infect” when it was first detected in Wuhan in December 2020. She said most viruses take months or years to become infectious but Covid “was already more infectious than flu when it first arrived.”
Birx thinks Chinese deceptions made a big difference in the severity of the disease: “I think the world lost several months of preparation because we were thinking there wasn’t that level of human-to-human spread when there clearly was.”
The Daily Mail reported last month that even Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director of the World Health Organization – the organization that covered up any Chinese connection, believes the most likely explanation for Covid was an accident at the Wuhan lab which was studying it.
Anyone who dared suggest a thing two years ago was declared a “conspiracy theorist” and “anti-science.” Now is the time for the world community to press China to open its books on Covid and tell us what really happened.
5) Starbucks Closes Stores That Have Become “Dens Of Debauchery”
Starbucks has announced the closing of 16 stores over concerns about rampant drug use inside its restrooms, assaults, and squatting homeless “customers.”
Oh, and take a wild guess which cities are seeing the closures because of rampant crime.
Portland
Philadelphia
Washington D.C.
Los Angeles
Seattle
Who runs these cities?
Seattle, the city where Starbucks was founded, has seen a 75% increase in shootings compared to last year. Los Angeles has seen more people murdered in the last six months than at any other comparable time period in 15 years.
Things are pretty awful in our major cities when you can’t even feel safe getting a cup of coffee.
