Hi, friend,
To make long-term, expansive change in our country and communities, we need an ecosystem of leadership . An ecosystem that goes beyond one organization, one mission, one issue area - an ecosystem that welcomes diverse groups and folx that combine their different talents, perspectives, and focus areas . NLC is part of an ecosystem of leaders, as are many of the partners we’ve invited to Convention [[link removed]] . You can chat and meet these folx in Philadelphia on July 21 - 24 [[link removed]] , and learn more about them below .

THE CIVIC LEADERSHIP STORIES PROJECT [[link removed]]
Workshop: How To Tell Your Story So People Turn Up, Not Tune Out,
Saturday July 23, 10:30 a.m.
[link removed] [[link removed]] The Civic Leadership Stories Project seeks to redefine what public service looks like and what it can accomplish. In this breakout session with Will Jenkins (NLC DC ‘10) , we’ll explore how our personal leadership stories shape other's views about civic engagement. While there are a lot of stories about democracy, activism and public service in the movies and shows we watch, the political process is often portrayed as corrupt, boring or unbelievable. We’ll explore how our personal leadership stories shape other's views about civic engagement.

Fireside Chat with Kim Kelly: The Untold Stories of Labor Organizing
Saturday, July 23, 1:15 p.m.
The names and faces of countless silenced, misrepresented, or forgotten leaders have been erased by time as a privileged few decide which stories get cut from the final copy: those of women, people of color, LGBTQIA people, disabled people, sex workers, prisoners, and the poor. In this keynote, AFSCME’s Assistant Director of Education and Leadership Training Paris Walker will interview author and labor advocate Kim Kelly. Together, they’ll chat about the power of collective bargaining, worker solidarity, and Kim’s new book, Fight Like Hell: An Intersectional History Of Labor Movements In The US.
