On Friday, I told you all about Trump appointee Seema Verma — the one using her position overseeing Medicare and Medicaid to enrich Republican political consultants.

Last night it got worse. New documents show that Verma tried to get taxpayers to reimburse her for $47,000 in jewelry that was stolen on a work trip. Yes, you read that right. $47,000 of our tax dollars. For her jewelry.

Here's the thing about Verma: She should have been fired a long time ago because she has used her position to take health care AWAY from the Americans that need it most.

This drip-drip of corruption, cronyism and abuse of power is icing on the cake.

It's time for Verma to go. Let's make sure the Trump Administration hears that loud and clear.

Donald Trump built his administration by putting people in charge of agencies and programs they'd spent their careers trying to dismantle.

One of those people was Seema Verma, a Republican consultant who'd worked with Mike Pence to make Medicaid less effective and more expensive for Indiana residents. She'd also been at the center of a conflict-of-interest scandal, when folks learned that she was not only consulting on Indiana Medicaid policy, but also working for one of the state's largest Medicaid vendors.

The streamlined version: Verma's qualifications were (1) making it harder for people to get the care they need, and (2) fleecing Medicaid to line her pockets.

So Donald Trump (with the consent of the Senate) put her in charge of Medicaid and Medicare.

America deserves so much better than Seema Verma, Donald Trump, and the Senate that enables their corruption. That's what our fight's about. Chip in $3 now to keep the movement strong!

Since taking office, Verma has sought to slash benefits and shift costs onto sick and low-income people. On her first day, she wrote a letter encouraging states to begin charging Medicaid recipients monthly premiums and emergency room fees.

At the same time she was claiming the government couldn't afford to help poor people access crucial health care, her agency was spending millions of taxpayer dollars on public relations consultants to polish Verma's media profile.

And it gets worse:

Those PR consultants? They were long-time Republican power players, including a former head of Donald Trump's transition team.

The streamlined version: Verma has spent her government tenure (1) making it harder for people to afford the care they need, and (2) fleecing the Department of Health and Human services to line her cronies' pockets.

Donate $3 today to take back the Senate and end the Trump administration's corruption.

In a sense, Verma is doing the job Trump hired her to do; incompetence, cronyism, and shady self-dealing are core values of his administration.

They're counting on making us cynical, on driving the public to write off our government as hopelessly corrupt, on stonewalling our efforts to hold them accountable.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

This campaign is about building a new politics that people can be proud of. That starts with the knowledge that government should confront the problems of working people, not fill the coffers of the president and his pals.

The streamlined version: We've got a true grassroots movement and an unshakeable belief in democracy and the work ethic to take back the Senate.

Stand with us! Contribute $3 now to keep the pressure on!
