John,
It comes down to this: Brian Kemp has made life dangerous for women in Georgia. His six-week abortion ban could come in a matter of days and it will make it impossible for women across the state to get the health care they need.
This is a difficult moment for women. Many feel hopeless, but we must reject despair. If we win this election, I will use my veto pen and my bully pulpit as governor to stop further abortion restrictions in their tracks.
Let me be clear: as governor, I will veto any bill that infringes on the right to an abortion.
Hours after Roe v. Wade was overturned, Brian Kemp and his allies rushed to ban abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.
Six weeks.
If you can do math or understand biology at all, you realize that is before most women even know they are pregnant. This is an attack on all women — especially Black, brown and rural women — LGBTQ+ people and everyone who relies on the right to an abortion in Georgia.
We live in a state where the person who took an oath to protect us is actively putting our lives in danger. We deserve better than this.
The health and safety of Georgia’s women are now on the ballot. Brian Kemp’s extreme anti-abortion agenda has left behind millions of Georgians in every corner of the state, and I need your help to stop him.
We can win the governorship together and build One Georgia.
We can get to work defending reproductive rights.
We can pursue reproductive justice.
We can stand up for women.
But it will take all of us working our hardest to get good done.
Let’s get it done,
Stacey
