Inflation Is Likely to Hit Double Digits—and ‘Build Back Better’ Will Make It Worse

gas prices.jpeg

‘Old news’: President Biden tried to dismiss the report that consumer prices had shot up 9.1 percent in June by calling it “old news,” saying that inflation would soon moderate.

Bad news: But Joel Griffith, research fellow in economic policy studies, says inflation is likely to hit double digits this fall. Read his statement here.

Huge price tag: Research fellow EJ Antoni’s estimate that Bidenflation is costing workers $3,400 in lost wages got widespread coverage. Check out the story on Fox Business.

Worse news: Meanwhile, congressional Democrats are debating another version of “Build Back Better” that would only make matters worse. Read more about that here.

Status of the Gascon recall: Voters in deep-blue Los Angeles are mounting a massive recall effort against George Soros-backed Los Angeles district attorney George Gascon.

Rogue’s gallery: The policies of “rogue prosecutors” like Gascon have unleashed a massive crime wave across the country.

Recall wave? San Francisco recently recalled its rogue prosecutor Chesa Boudin by a 10-point margin.

Learn more: Heritage has led the charge exposing these rogue prosecutors. Check out our compilation of reports here.

Biden Prepares Regulatory Onslaught

Red tape rising: The Biden administration is on a regulatory tear, actively pursuing 2,673 rules in the next 12 months.

Bad omen: This unconstrained expansion of the regulatory state exacerbates runaway inflation and inhibits recovery from the COVID-19 lockdown.

Read more: Diane Katz, senior research fellow with the Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies, provides the details in an op-ed published in the Washington Times.

ALWAYS ON OFFENSE
Heritage President Files Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Katie Porter for Slandering Heritage Expert

What’s news: During a hearing on gun laws, Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., falsely accused Heritage legal fellow Amy Swearer of perjury, then tweeted out a clip of the exchange that went viral.

Ethics violation: On Thursday, Heritage filed an official ethics complaint against Porter, saying she “grossly abused her privileges under the Speech and Debate Clause to publicly slander Ms. Swearer with impunity.”

Recourse: The complaint calls on the House Ethics Committee to reprimand Porter and recommend that she apologize to Swearer. Read more about the complaint here.

Getting attention: Fox News had the scoop on this story, which was among the most-read articles on FoxNews.com that day. Read the article here.

What You Can Do to Stop Biden’s Radical Transgender Sports Rule

classroom202.jpeg

What’s news: The Biden administration is proposing a change to Title IX that would redefine “sex” to include “gender identity.” This would have profound consequences, not just for women’s sports, but for their safety, career prospects, and more.

What to do: You can help stop this rule from going into effect by contributing to a flood of comments attacking the proposed change. The comment period is open until Sept. 12.

How to do it: Heritage Action for America put the together tools you need to file comments. You can find the toolkit here.
