It’s no exaggeration to say that securing voting rights is key to protecting every other right we hold dear.

Voting for candidates who share our values — that’s how we defend and restore reproductive rights, fight against climate change, expand health care access, and so much more. Unfortunately, partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression have made it much more difficult for Democrats to succeed in our electoral system. We cannot create change on the issues that matter if our voices are silenced at the ballot box.

And now, the Supreme Court is set to hear a case that could upend our democracy as we know it. Moore v. Harper could reinstate the GOP’s partisan, illegally gerrymandered congressional maps that North Carolina’s highest court threw out — but that’s not all. The case could lead states to pass laws allowing legislatures to choose their own presidential electors regardless of what the people decide.
