This Friday was huge! Sunrisers and our allies across the country carried the power of the September strikes and bumped up the pressure by taking over politicians’ offices in 20 states. Here’s what happened at just a few of 260+ strike events:

In South Bend, IN 70+ young people took over Pete Buttigieg’s office to demand he champion the Green New Deal.
In Newark, DE, Senate primary challenger Jess Scarane joined a rally demanding a Green New Deal for Delaware, and 3 Delaware state politicians signed the Green New Deal pledge.
In Boston, MA 300+ young people filled the statehouse to demand a Green New Deal for their state. 27 were arrested while sitting-in peacefully.
In Des Moines, IA, Bernie Sanders came to rally with us outside the Iowa Capitol building in support for our demands.

Friday proved again that when our movement gets loud, politicians listen. We have a plan now to keep up our pressure throughout 2020 until we win a Green New Deal. Come to an open meeting at a Sunrise Hub near you hear about the essential role you can plan in making it happen.

The next year is gonna be a big one for our movement. One year from now, we could have filled all levels of government with a new wave of leaders who are ready to make the Green New Deal a reality. We could wake up in December 2020 on the verge of winning everything we’ve hoped for. But getting there is gonna take all of us.
